Appetizers: Winter Market
Market Café’s new winter menu sounds like just the thing to warm up a chilly day. The open-air terrace has also been redone, so sit in the sun while you choose from Mediterranean and Mexican flavours.
Start the day with breakfast waffles, and continue with appetisers, soups, eggs, sandwiches, pastas, stone pizzas, grills and a huge selection of in-house breads and desserts. Soups like spinach and mint with sweet paprika, roasted tomato and red pepper with pearl vegetables, finished with pesto, and lemony lentil soup with hints of cilantro might just hit the spot. For a light bite, try one of the new salads like stir-fried balsamic chicken with bean sprouts and peppers and sesame on tossed fresh lettuce. Highfibre sandwiches include the Mexican classic with refried beans, sweet corn, spicy salsa, peppers and Monterey jack and a roasted lamb sandwich in garlic bread with lemon-basil mayo and onion rings.
Their desserts almost always include eggless options, and there are some new additions that sound scrumptious – strawberry misu and cherry nougat.
Market Café, 8 Khan market (4175-7703). Meal for two Rs 1,000.
